It was a clear morning
Not a cloud in the sky
Up in the mountains
So high
Amid the jagged
Peaks so tall
One never knows
When the snow falls
Or when the glaciers
That have been there
As long as anyone
Can remember
Until the moment
That’s no longer true
And the wall
Crashes into view
What’s coming next
Who can tell
When the Himalayas fell
A million tons
Approximately so
Of ancient ice
Rock and snow
Breaking off
All at the same time
As happens
With the changing clime
Chorus
People had seconds
To get away
Utility workers
Children at play
Farmers and tourists
Caught in the flood
When thousands were buried
By a wall of mud
Chorus
Villages vanished
Completely gone
Nowhere to grab
If you try to hold on
So much of the country
There and then not
Today in the mountains
That’s what we’ve got
Chorus
It was a clear morning
Not a cloud in the sky
“When the Himalayas Fell”
